Plum Creek Golf & Country Club
About
Legendary golf architects Pete Dye and Perry Dye designed the 18-hole, private course at Plum Creek Golf and Country Club, located in Castle Rock. Opened in 1984, the golf course features 7,044 yards of golf from its championship tees, playing to a par of 72. Dye included various different challenges in this golf course, causing some locals to say that it possesses some of the most difficult holes in the state. The hilly terrain of the well-bunkered course causes many uneven lies. Water hazards also come into play on some holes. Plum Creek Golf and Country Club boasts beautiful views of Castle Rock and the Rockies.

Plum Creek early June
This is the best value in Castle Rock golf. Close in reservations on Golf Now are $55 including cart. I played as a single and finished in just under 3 hours. I believe that rumors that the course is in bankruptcy might be keeping people away. The course is in good shape, greens rolled very true. If you miss some greens on the wrong side you are in a world of trouble as they are elevated and from your ball position you can't even see the putting surface.
Very Nice
Very pretty course, loads of fun. Very nicely sculptured into the hills, not especially long
but still challenging. Very well kept.
CUT THE GREENS
Long shaggy greens....course would be much more attractive if the greens were cut closer. As it is, greens are bumpy and difficult to hold a putt on line.
putting money where it counts
I've read the other reviews, and agree with some. Yes, the course is hurting for money. But in their defense, they are putting the money they have towards the golf course. The course was in great shape. The only drawback was that the greens were slow.
But for those of you bashing the course for paint chipping, or parking lot cracks, go back to your high dollar country clubs and $$$ initiation fees. If you're about golf, this place is worth the trip
Great conditions
A little pricey at $70, but the course was in great condition.
Will be back... soon
First timer on this course and loved it! I only live about 20 minutes away and plan on making this my home course. the views are great on the back 9. friendly staff.
Very Lush
I was surprised how nice the conditions were. They are definitely one of the greenest around at the moment. Greens looked good and rolled well. Everything was just in great shape. I enjoyed the round a lot.
Bum creek golf course
Golf shop staff is unorganized and rude. We started on hole #1 and found out on hole four we had started in the middle of 4 foursomes it was here we found out everyone was starting on 10 not 1. We were never told that. At the turn I went in to see if we should continue to the back or play the front again and the staff was rude. The place was packed with grumpy old men EVERYWHERE. Greens were slow and bumpy. Not that nice of a golf course.
Fun time
The course itself is challenging, but fair. They keep it properly mowed so that if you keep the ball in play, you have good terrain to hit off of. If you go into the rough, the native can be pretty challenging. The greens have been punched and sanded and are just now rounding back into good putting surfaces. The weather was a little wet yesterday, so the greens were nice and soft. This course has gone through multiple transfers of ownership, so its hard to point any fingers. The course itself is in pretty good shape, but they still have a few areas with drainage problems or that could use a little TLC. Their biggest (and most expensive) problem is the cement walkways and cart paths. It looks like the original concrete vendor was either incompetent or cheaped out, but all of the cement poured at this location is a wreck. It's been that way for at least the last three or four years, so I'm not sure if it will ever be corrected, but it's still a fun course to play.
Awesome Design
This is a Pete Dye course....and it shows in the quality of the design. From the tips, the course is a challenge. I have played here on multiple occasions, and it's always windy!!!! Just adds to the difficulty when playing on a tipped out Pete Dye course!
An older course with good character.
I had read a few reviews and some had indicated the greens were in great shape. Not so. They had been aerated just like other courses in the area. I played winter rules 2putts pick up and it was ok. I thought for the price I got a great deal and really enjoyed the round.
Dog track
This was a waste of money. From the second i got there and they had no inventory in the pro shop, to the cart they gave me having no breaks or tire tread, to the staff not telling me to tee off 10 and letting me to go to the first hole in error, to the WEAK course conditions. All of this experience was no good.
I did play 18 in 2.5 hours as I was solo and it was empty.
But the course is a total dog track. Tons of bad grass all of the course. Spots with no grass, etc.
Pleasantly Surprised!
Great layout and in pretty good shape. There are a lot of challenging hole and target golf. You can tell at one time this was a premier golf course. Unfortunately, housing and condos push righ up against a few holes and if the up keep was better, this would be a premier course. Still, for the money it is an extremely challenging and great exoerience.
Great course.
This is a beautiful course a must play for anyone that has the opportunity.
Great "true" golf course
Lots of challenging holes but, fair and score-able holes are there.
Nice shape but...
The course was in overall good shape but they had aerated their greens and still charged full rates. To pay $60 for a course and no mention of that is not acceptable. I understand courses need to do this but you should not charge a standard rate.
Well worth driving to play
Challenging and a fun course to play. I will be back.
Check course conditions
Call ahead for course condition updates. I saw that Golfnow allows courses to share whether or not they have recently aerated with a BIG "A" on the offering. Plum Creek prefers not to use this option. I wish Golfnow could require facilities to provide this info before booking. Maybe offer an additional discount at check in if they do not fairly represent their course condition.
