Plum Creek Golf & Country Club
About
Legendary golf architects Pete Dye and Perry Dye designed the 18-hole, private course at Plum Creek Golf and Country Club, located in Castle Rock. Opened in 1984, the golf course features 7,044 yards of golf from its championship tees, playing to a par of 72. Dye included various different challenges in this golf course, causing some locals to say that it possesses some of the most difficult holes in the state. The hilly terrain of the well-bunkered course causes many uneven lies. Water hazards also come into play on some holes. Plum Creek Golf and Country Club boasts beautiful views of Castle Rock and the Rockies.

Fathers Day gouge
This is always a fun course, but rarely when I play it so I feel like it’s a $100 course. Construction on 1 was an omen to the day as it was very apparent and all over, but again somehow s $100 course. Wait it gets better, 5/9 holes on the back were cart path only- that doesn’t count the 2 par 3’s. But my favorite part is the GPS telling us we’re behind pace and the Marshall also telling our group to hurry up when everything jams at the turn. Always well staffed but just rarely drive home feeling like I have to get back, just something to check off the list.
Father's Day review
In reading reviews prior to playing, I totally did not know what to expect. The reviews were all over the board. On account of that, the round exceeded expectations. The course was in good condition outside of some tee box work they were doing on one hole. The bunkers were in pretty tough shape and not raked with the exception of a few traps. But the greens and fairways were very good. Staff was very friendly. Pace of play - 4 hours, 56 minutes but probably not bad for a holiday Sunday.
Our round took 5 hours and 20 minutes to play. We had dinner plans and fortunately we finished just in time. The twosome we played with had to leave early because of a time conflict. Part of the problem was that several holes were cart path only due to all the recent rain. I played last year on Father's Day and enjoyed the round. I'd try to play the course again in the future but will expect a 4 1/2 hour round max.
Great course!
Nice course. Challenging. Sopping wet, but nobody can control that. Cart path only, which was to be expected. Very friendly staff. Will play again.
FYI
For the price, I wish I would’ve knows that certain holes were cart path only, which isn’t a big deal since we’ve had a lot of rain and it’s sloppy and muddy at certain points on the course, but hole 7, the par 3 is totally under renovation for the tee box and what was challenging is a 70 yd par 3, wish I would’ve know that. Also know they book tee times 9 min apart, so when they say they expect pace of golf to go fast is unreasonable, just plan on being backed up all day and the round was 5 hours long. Just FYI
Good course
This is a Pete Due course that is typical of his design style. Tough but fair. He makes courses with intimidating looking tee shots but there’s usually a place to miss, but you usually can’t see it from the tee. Like all of his courses, you need to play it a few times to learn where you can miss, both tee shots and approach shots. It’s a very good layout. Course is in very good condition. I’ll play it again for sure.
A Colorado Beauty
Plum Creek is a beautifully manicured gem of a golf course. Fantastic first time playing Plum Creek. It will be my go-to course every time I visit my brother’s family in Colorado.
