The Overland Park Golf Course (formely known as Overland Golf Course) is a municipal, 18-hole course that offers gorgeous views of the Denver skyline. The course opened in 1895, making it one of the older municipal courses in the Denver area. Located only three miles from downtown, the course features small, undulating greens and the fairways are narrow and lines with trees. However water hazards only come into play on one hole. William H. Tucker designed the first nine holes and later in 1956, nine holes designed by William F. Bell were added. On the Overland premises there is also a convenient lighted driving range, as well as other amenities that are associated with private facilities such as a restaurant and pro shop.

Will get better

The conditions were not good . They didn’t tell you until you paid that they had temporary tee boxes and a temporary green. Front nine played in good time, when we made the turn they had been letting people play nine on the back so we hit a grid lock on 10 and had to wait 10 minutes on every tee box from 10-18

Great Condition AFTER The Festival

I just moved to the area and the course has been closed due to the big festival, so when I played yesterday I wasn't expecting much....

BUT...I have to tip my hat to the grounds crew!!! They've done a great job getting the entire track back in playing shape so quickly!

Greens were rolling great! And that really stood out about the round, how good the greens were. The rough was thick but that's part of the challenge.

Overall, a straightforward layout and a chance to go low if you stay in the fairway.

4th

Great round but the only issue is that Overland should have a marshal to help control speed of play. We had a 1:30 tee time and had a 3 some in front of us. By the end of the day there were 2 empty holes in front of them and for some reason the 3 guys played the back tees and were not very good players.

Mountainguy

We went off at 12:20 and the sun was out and a slight breeze- The course played slow n the front 9 and we had no one in front of us on the back nine. The course was in pretty good shape for the middle of March- I plan on going back next chance I can get out and play- Its a nice older course with some long par 4s. Fairly open - but the trees can eat your lunch if you get sloppy.

Silk Purse from Sow's Ear

A flat, relatively short municipal course that was once eschewed by better players because of its uninteresting features and poor conditioning, this course has lately emerged as one of the best-conditioned courses in the Denver area, eclipsing the grooming of the other Denver muny courses, and providing a senior- and junior-friendly walk in a parkland. Don't let the wide fairways fool you; several holes can find you navigating your way around 100-foot tall trees if you don't put your tee shot on the correct side of the fairway. And the greens feature subtle breaks that can befuddle reasonably accomplished putters. Overall, a pleasant experience and tougher than the 114 slope would suggest.

5+ HOUR LONG ROUND! TERRIBLE PACE

Course was decent, it had rained the day before, and I won't fault the course for being wet. It is what it is. Wasn't excited about the 400+ long par 4s, but most were fair in layout. The main issue was PACE OF PLAY. It was atrocious, I simply couldn't believe how bad the course was backed up. Probably the worst I've ever personally seen. No marshal or staff to be found anywhere. Nothing but waiting on the countless groups ahead of us and finding shade at backed up tee boxes to sit and wait. HAD we been able to finish out whole round, it would've easily been 5.5hr. We allotted 4.5 to play, worst case scenario for our twosome. Had to leave 4:45 into our round after the 15th hole, didn't even finish playing out the 16th because we were too fed up and needed to leave. Absolutely ridiculous. If the pace was good, would've probably enjoyed playing here, other than the recently punched greens, which is another thing I won't fault them for, its just part of golf. Pace was terrible, plain and simple. Need to figure it out. Inexcusable to be out there for almost 5 hours or more.

Great city Course

One of the nicer city courses I've played. It was in great condition even considering the rain they had all day but there were very few ground under repair sections.

I got the first tee time out so pace was awesome.

Good for the money

The course was in decent shape for the time of the year. Typical Muni course, straight, open, no water to worry about. My biggest and only complaint, no ranger. The group in front of us was incredibly slow, and did not know or did not feel necessary to let my fairly quick 3 some play through. Once we made the turn, the back 9 was backed up with several groups, so we asked to play the front again in order to get 18 in. We were able to play that 9 in just over an hour as there was no wait.

Good Course for the Cosr

I have played here many times. Fairly wide open, greens in great shape for this time of year, simple layout, pace was 4 hrs exactly, and it has good food at the clubhouse. Good deal for the cost.

Great Local Course

Overland is a perfect place for a mid week round that's close to the city. The weekends can get slow. Course conditions are always acceptable for a municipal course. Not a very tough track if you keep it on the fairway. I enjoy better than Wellshire and Williscase. I also always walk because the course is flat and the holes are close together.

Great walking course

Old school golf. Supposedly opened in 1895. Maybe the most flat piece of land in Denver and a very tight course which makes it a really easy walk. A fairly easy course to score on if you keep it out of the plentiful trees.
