About

Holes 18
Type Resort
Par 72
Length 7054 yards
Slope 133
Rating 72.6

Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay designed the course at the Lone Tree Golf Club & Hotel. Opened in 1986, the 18-hole, public course is immaculately maintained and very demanding. The course not only offers a challenging game but also beautiful panoramic views of Denver and the Rockies. It offers 7,054 yards of golf from its championship tees, playing to a par of 72. The natural landscape of the golf course features lakes and a stream, which create water hazards that come into play on many holes. The course is also well-bunkered. One the Lone Tree Golf Club & Hotel premises there are excellent practice facilities and a well-stocked pro shop.

Great day on the course

The course was in excellent shape, the greens were fast and challenged us on getting the right line. Overall, it was a good day of golf and we can't ask for more.

Sweet morning July 21

Beautiful conditions. Greens were CONSISTENT. Fairways were perfectly cut carpet. Greens are green (though recently sanded they still played perfect rolls for putting -- kudos to greens keeper). My only 2 complaints---number 10 did not have a stone yardage marker at tee box for tips blues or oranges. It's a par 3, that's needed. And number 14 had (MAYBE) an illegal pin placement just 7-8 feet from front edge of green, I haven't checked the rules but that may be legit after all.

Lone Tree is Awesome

Greens are challenging and fast (be below the hole). Offers a variety of shots (not hitting driver PW every hole). Just a great course.

slow on weekend

this is one of the slowest courses in Denver area to play on WEEKEND. For the last 3 times we did not see a single marshals, looks like that they afraid to tell people to play faster.

Good Course but Expensive

This course is really fun to play. Challenging holes and always in good shape. However, the price to play this course is over priced for what you get. I'd rather drive a bit further and play a course with better views and not lined with houses everywhere.

Very Solid Golf Course

I have played Lone Tree a number of times and think highly of the course, practice facilities, and staff. I brought a friend who had never played Lone Tree and he was pleasantly surprised with the overall experience. We both thought the course was in terrific shape and the greens were fast and challenging.

Lone Tree offers great golf

Th e course is in great condition. The fairways are fairly open for the intermediate player with not too many hazards. The greens are well defended with bunkers and slope, and are fast, but very fair. The holes are well sculpted to make you think about ball placement rather than just swing away. The views from the back nine are glorious! Never saw a course ranger, but pace of play was fine.

Lone Tree Golf - Great Bang for Your Buck!

Lone Tree Golf Club used to be a private Country Club. Unlike other former private Country Club golf courses, Lone Tree remains in Country Club-Quality condition. The fairways, greens, bunkers, and tee boxes are all cared for in the same manner as one would expect from a private course. This course remains one of my favorites in all of the Denver area and it's one of my top favorites in all of Colorado.

Lone Tree Golf

I got a sweet price from the website, so it made going to this course, which can usually cost you upwards of 80 bucks with a cart, which I got to play for 15 bucks.

All in all, I was very disappointed with the course. It is supposed to be one of the nicest in Denver and the conditions were of the course were inexcusable. We've been having so many rain and thunderstorms, but you'd never know it playing these greens. You would think we lived in the middle of the desert. It was hard, fast, and absurd.

The course itself is very challenging, but again, there was a lot of ground not repaired and incredibly hard and dry fairways. I was very disappointed. But, again, for 15 bucks, couldn't be too unhappy.

One of the best values in Metro Denver

There is a lot of competition for top golf destinations in South Denver, and Lone Tree is perhaps the best value of the bunch.

This is an Arnold Palmer-designed course, and South Suburban has done an excellent job in keeping it in great shape. Lone Tree was a private club until the early 90's, and the facilities include a hotel, tennis facility, restaurant, event center, and well-appointed pro shop. The course is always ahead of the curve for early season golf, and it is almost always in top shape throughout the summer and fall.

The course is challenging, with an above-average amount of elevation and undulation on the fairways and greens. The course has its share of memorable holes - #6 is one of the best in town, #12 is one of the toughest, #15 entices you with a long, elevated tee shot but there is a lot of danger if you miss. #10 is a par 3 that demands accuracy. Don't go left at all, and right will feed into a nasty sand trap. Can be a tough start to the back 9 if you are not careful. There is OB on 14 that is very easy to hit if you tend to hit right, or if you try to cut the corner and your ball doesn't make it. I've walked the course, but it's a long track. There are significant uphill walks between 10 and 11, as well as 14 and 15. Lone Tree usually has very challenging rough, and if it has been raining recently, very difficult rough. It really pays to hit the ball accurately here - there are only two holes that actually "touch" each other (2 and 3), so if you are wayward you are in danger of OB or you are in a hazard.

The driving range is in good shape, and there is a once chipping/bunker practice green off to the side. The service is good - there is a good restaurant at the clubhouse with an outdoor bar and TV. You can order ahead on the 9th tee box.

One of the toughest parts of Lone Tree is getting on - it is very difficult to get a Saturday morning tee time (course members have priority). The course hosts a lot of tournaments, so Fridays can be tough as well. The course has a lot of regulars, plus one of the strongest mens/ladies clubs in the state. The cost is tough to beat, especially for South Suburban residents. There is a $18 cart fee if you ride, so remember to add that to your budget. Drinks on the course are reasonable.

Overall, this is a top course in Denver that can hold it's own against some highly-regarded (and much more expensive) competition. Count on it to be in great shape.

Great condition and fun to play

Lone Tree GC is always in great shape. The course is flawless right now, especially the greens. I love this course because it's very nice but not extremely difficult. There aren't a lot of trees to get lost in nor water to deal with.

Friendly staff. Always food/drink carts out on the course.

Nice course

Front 9 is a mix of dog legs and water hazards. Back is more open but still provides a challenge. Senic views the Rockies. The club house is a little dated but overall.

Great conditions

The course was in great shape. They don't aerate the greens in the spring so this time of year it's the best place to play. We played 18 on a Monday with a noon tee time and we finished right at 4 hours including a clubhouse stop at the turn and a long bathroom and smoke break at 15 to let the group ahead of us move up a little. Great lay out, good conditions for the spring and I would recommend it.
