Denver City Park Golf Course

The reconstructed City Park golf course is one of the best!

Course was redesigned last year and it has been a huge upgrade to the once known day drinking course. The course now offers tighter fairways and newly designed holes but it is a very straight course. Ths few twist and turns def help liven thungs up but i didnt feel quite good about taking Driver out every hole possible. Would play again because the views of the skyline of Denver and the mountains is truly majestic.

It took us 5 hours and 7 minutes to play 18 holes. We called the marshal to address the slow play with a group that was slowing everything down, and his response was that we were on time. Over 5 hours is NOT on time

Views of downtown Denver and the Rockies in the background can’t be beat. It even snowed during part of my round and I still had an incredible time. I’ll definitely be back

One issue I forgot to mention in my review: as of Sep 2021, GPS has not been updated for the post-2019 course layout - so if you use any type of GPS device it will not be useful. A laser rangefinder is a premium. At least they do have the 150-yard barber pole and sprinkler heads well marked for distances. Your GPS will still think the former layout is in play. According to the clubhouse staff, they hope to get the GPS updated ASAP. Just a forewarning.

I'd call this a very successful revitalization of City Park Golf Course - well done!

Played on Sun 8am - staff very friendly and easy check-in. Range, putting green and chipping green within proximity of 1st hole. Tough to get a tee time if you are not a Denver City member but if you check on cancellations any time from 3 days and in or just try to walk on, it's not impossible to get on.

Compared with the pre-2019 City Park course, this is a breath of fresh air and in many ways a brand new course.
Greens are a little larger and with more undulations, some driveable / short par 4s, as well as some tough longer par 4s and 3s for a par 70 layout. The flow and sequencing of holes is not smooth, but it works out OK. Conditions of tee boxes, fairways and greens was excellent considering how much traffic this course gets.
Fairways wide enough to find, enough trees to get into tree trouble. Plenty of elevation changes to club up or club down on your approach shots.

Great views of Denver skyline and front range from a spectacular new clubhouse strategically set on the highest ground. Water and rest rooms periodically on front and back 9s.

Walkable, played in 4:15, did not wait on hardly any holes.
Now that I've checked out the redo I don't need to go back right away however will keep it on my list of courses for monthly / quarterly play. All in all a very enjoyable round and overall golf experience. Anyone not sure if worthy of checking out after the redo: make it a priority!

Played the new setup for first time and could not be more impressed. Tough to get a tee time but worth the wait. Clubhouse is gorgeous! Easy to get from parking lot to first tee and you can check in via phone. Lots of new hole layouts but a few of the old as well for nostalgia. Greens and fairways were in great condition. Did not have time for the range due to last minute arrival but look forward to getting back there for the whole experience.

I played this course like 20 years ago when I lived downtown and it was a true goat track, just a real lousy city course. However I played it yesterday on the advice of some friends after trying for a couple weeks to get a tee time, which is almost impossible, this is not the same old crappy city course of 20 years ago. I was extremely impressed at the condition of the course the layout of the course and the facilities at the course as well as the pace of play was very good, I highly recommend this golf course again the only difficulty is trying to secure a tee time.

Good luck getting a tee time out here. they are very hard to come by. i was lucky to find a last minute cancellation as a single the night before.

I'd say the most notable feature of City Park is it's location right near downtown Denver. the property sits perched on a hill just east of the skyline giving golfers a remarkable view of the city and fantastic mountain views on a clear day. (Too bad it's been so hazy around town lately)

In a recent total renovation for the golf course the clubhouse at City Park was placed near the center of the property offering patrons of the bar and restaurant great views of the downtown skyline and Rockies in the distance. If you have time before or after your round this is a great place to enjoy a drink and great golf course food!

Now to the golf! City Park offers a great selection of holes throughout a traditional routing. Most of the par 4s are fairly short, but I found myself hitting long irons into 4 of the 5 par 3s. There are 3 par 5s on the par 70 layout, and although they are fairly short, you will need to make some strategic decisions before trying to bomb a drive and expect to make an easy birdie. The par 5 13th offers a great risk reward tee shot between a creek and a lake, and your second on the 9th is all or nothing over a lake to get home in 2.

This course places a premium on staying on the short stuff as there are many mature trees you will find blocking your view to the green just off of the fairway. You'll also notice several areas with in course out of bounds, and of course OB always lurking on one of the 4 streets surrounding the property. You may want to think twice before pulling driver if you are a little erratic off the tee or be in store for a bunch of penalties on your card.

The greens at city park are quite small and I found them to be very fast and smooth. You will need a sharp short game to score well out here. Conditions of the course were very good, I did not see any bare spots or brown turf on the grounds. Very nice for a Muni!

My favorite holes at City Park were the driveable 6th, number 11 with a tough tee shot that must find the fairway to find the right angle to an elevated green to the left, and the short par 5 13th with trouble everywhere you look off the tee.

I really enjoyed my round out a City Park, and at just $31 to walk during the week, no wonder it is so hard to find a slot to tee off. If you ever get the chance, come out and play this fun track in thh city with some of the best views on the front range.
